The Swedish heads of  planned-to-be-merged GfK and TNS both express positive attitudes towards the Tuesday declared mutual plans, when interviewed by SMRN.

While both state that the nice global fit, as mentioned by the global respective managements, would be mirrored in Sweden - with a coincidentally suitable geographical overlap, and operational differences as well - GfK CEO Ulf Hillstedt stresses that the merger plans so far are at a very early stage.

A former banker, Mr. Hillstedt further points out that M&A history tells us that leaked-out merger plans, as were the case with these ones, diminish the probability of the merger becoming a reality.

The sale of its share in the jointly owned Finnish fieldwork company to Norstat, does not mean a withdrawal from Finland, according to Hermelins owner Dacke Group.
