Impressions after the first day of ESOMARs Innovate conference in Copenhagen. Found myself wondering somewhere around afternoon coffee break when the conference was actually going to start. I realised it could have ended already around ten, after the keynote speaker.
The networking here is great though, so some of the other delegates got me thinking in new ways. Turns out it is not so obvious what innovation is, which explains the fact why so many of the speakers started by defining the subject. The interesting thing is that they did it in different ways and often contradicted one another. Quite a few of them were also quite open about how things can go wrong and that far from everyone really want innovation - deep down in their hearts.

Consequently, even if this first day have not given us many new thoughts about how to innovate market research itself, it has given us considerable food for thought and a couple of interesting examples of how client companies actually go about making their organisations innovation-friendly.
It is indeed unfair to put a charismatic keynote speaker first in line and thus give everyone a benchmark that is almost impossible to match. We decided to give you, dear readers, a glimpse of Gregg Fraley as well. Take your time viewing this 7-minute clip - it is definitely worth it!
