Become the star of the Swedish Market Research Day 2010! This is your opportunity to shine, to show the industry what it takes to be an idol. RESEARCH IDOL is open to all delegates. If you have registered and you want to get involved, this is your chance!
It’s difficult to keep the attention of an audience, especially when you are presenting areas of research that are complicated and could be outside the area of expertise of those listening. If you want to make a lasting impression, you need to shine. This is your chance to show that researchers can present themselves in an engaging, fun, entertaining and passionate way, getting their message across succinctly and in an easy to understand manner.
This is how you become the new star of our industry:
1. Sign up for the Swedish Market Research Day, if you haven’t already done so, by emailing smrd@smrn.se. It doesn’t matter if you are there as a delegate, exhibitor, speaker or in any other capacity, but you need to be on the list of participants.
2. Send us your thoughts on this topic: ”This is how I present research methodology”, to smrd@smrn.se no later than February 24th. You can send your submission as plain text (preferrably in Word or pdf) or as a video clip. If you choose the latter, bear in mind that the jury should judge your submission anonymously, so make sure to wear a mask or hide your face in some other way.
3. Make sure your outline reflects the “idols personality” – fun, outgoing, fearless, passionate, challenging, emotional, theatrical.
4. If the secret jury (their identities will be revealed at the grand finale, March 11) thinks your submission is one of the four best, you will get a new topic on the evening of March 10 and will have the entire night to prepare your splendid three minute presentation, which shall win the hearts of the audience at the Swedish Market Research Day at Berns in Stockholm, March 11.
5. The jury will comment – even critisize – your presentation, but in the end it is your peers in the audience who will select the winner.
6. The winner gets free participation at ESOMAR:s world congress in Athens, September 12-15, 2010, and is directly qualified for the main contest of ESOMAR Research Idol, settled at the congress. The Swedish Market Research Day pays travel and hotel for the winner (up to 6000SEK).
7. In the Swedish contest, both in the qualifying round and in the final, you may choose between Swedish and English as your language of presentation (the jury understands both languages, but some in the audience don’t). In the main contest in Athens, your performance must be in English.
